About the Artist

Gayle has been painting for over 25 years. She received her degree in art from Bridgewater State College in 1981. She continued her education with courses in painting and drawing at Mass College of Art. She also studied Portrait Art with “Boston School” Artist, Robert Cormier, at Fenway Studios in Boston. She has been a member of The Copley Society, The National Association of Portrait Artists, Quincy and South Shore Art Associations, Falmouth Artist Guild and Scituate Art Association. She attributes much of her education to copying the work of her favorite master artists such as John Singer Sargent, Mary Cassatt, Thomas Benson and Pierre Auguste Renior. Gayle has taken courses, seminars and programs from many of her favorite artists such as Frank Strazulla, Sergio Roffo, Margaret Carter Baumgaertner, Everett Raymond Kinstler, Mark Carter, John Sanders and Daniel Greene. Gayle paints primarily in oil on canvas. She grew up in Quincy Massachusetts and over the past 20 years has lived in South Boston, Falmouth, Norwell and Martha’s Vineyard. Gayle’s work is representational with an impressionistic use of color. She is passionate about capturing the likeness and personality of her portrait subjects. She has received many awards including first in show at Bridgewater University, The Quincy Art Association and multiple first, second and third place awards over the years exhibiting at the Martha’s Vineyard All Island Art Exhibits. Her portrait of Bruin’s Player Milan Lucic is part of the New England Sports Museum Collection. Gayle is currently self-represented.
